Due to the overwhelming attendance and high quantities of materials collected at previous Recycle Days this year, the event has been extended by an hour and a new by appointment only format has been developed to decrease wait times for residents.  The next Genesee County Recycle Day collection event for hard-to-recycle items such as household hazardous waste and electronics will be held at Carman-Ainsworth Middle School on Tuesday, July 19th from 1PM until 6PM by appointment only.  Please bring proof of registration in digital or printed format; without proof of registration, you will be turned away.

The Recycle Day event allows County residents to bring unwanted waste materials to this location during a designated timeslot.  Recycle Day staff will be available to assist attendees in navigating the site and unloading items from vehicles.  Appliances and tires will not be collected at the Recycle Day event.

“It is encouraging to see so many residents who want to recycle their hard to dispose of items; every participant makes these events possible.  All items that are collected at Recycle Day are properly disposed of, so they do not end up in the County’s landfills,” says Derek Bradshaw, Director of the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission.  During the May collection event, approximately 1,250 residents attended, and 192,588 pounds of waste was collected.
